We are inviting representations on a statutory notice to open a Communication and Interaction (Autism) Unit for pupils in Years 3-6 (Key Stage 2) at Iver Village Junior School.
Notice is given in accordance with sections 15 and 19 of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 that Buckinghamshire Council intends to open a Communication and Interaction (Autism) Unit with effect from January 2026 at:
Iver Village Junior School, High Street, Iver, SL0 9QA.
Together with the Governing Board of Iver Village Junior School, we have considered the responses to the recent consultation on the proposal for the school.

Proposal to open a Communication and Interaction (Autism) Unit at Iver Village Junior School
The Unit would have 8 places for children in Years 3-6 with Communication and Interaction (Autism) needs.
The 8 places would be in addition to the school’s mainstream places.
If agreed the Unit would open in January 2026.

What happens next
With the Governing Board of Iver Village Junior School, we will consider all responses we receive.
The Leader of Buckinghamshire Council, with the Cabinet Member for Education and Children's Services, will take into consideration any representations made before making a decision on the final outcome. We expect this decision to be made by 4 December 2025.
If the proposal to open a Communication and Interaction (Autism) Unit is agreed, it is anticipated that building works would start in August 2025 and complete in November 2025.
The new Unit would then open in January 2026. Pupil numbers would be gradually increased each year – until reaching the total capacity of 8.
