We invite your comments on the Ivinghoe Area Freight Zone Traffic Regulation Order (TRO). The purpose of this order is to reduce Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) traffic in the Cheddington, Ivinghoe and Mentmore area.

This is the first TRO of its kind in Buckinghamshire and is the result of 2 years of research, monitoring, discussions, public engagement and detailed planning.

Details of the traffic order

The boundaries of the freight zone are east of the A418, north of the A41 and west of the B489. This can be seen on the map below.

The traffic order will put in place a 7.5 tonne weight restriction on vehicles travelling through the zone. But there will be an exception for vehicles travelling to destinations within the zone. This means deliveries and collections for local homes and businesses will be unaffected.

The aim is to reduce traffic on local roads by removing those HGVs that are just passing through. This will reduce negative impacts on local residents, buildings and the environment.

To reduce HGV flows through Bierton and the Aylesbury town centre the preferred route for this traffic is to take the following journey. along the Eastern Link Road off the A418 on to the Stocklake Link Road to the A4157 and on to the A41 towards Hemel Hempstead and the M25.

This works in reverse for traffic from the A41 wishing to take the A418 towards Leighton Buzzard, Dunstable, the M1, and beyond. This freight route may be adjusted if and when future infrastructure projects are delivered.

Further details showing the areas of affected highway can be found at Buckinghamshire Traff Web.
