Chesham Neighbourhood Plan submission consultation

Closes 7 Nov 2024

Opened 12 Sep 2024

Overview

Buckinghamshire Council logo

We want to hear the views of local residents and organisations on the Neighbourhood Plan for Chesham.

In January 2020, the Parish of Chesham was designated a neighbourhood area by Buckinghamshire Council. This followed an application by Chesham Town Council.

Chesham Town Council has now completed a period of local community engagement on the Chesham Neighbourhood Plan and have submitted the final version to us.

The next stage of the process is for us, as the local authority, to carry out a public consultation on the submitted plan.

This is the final opportunity for local people to comment on the plan before it goes to independent examination.

The Chesham Neighbourhood Plan includes policies to shape local development to:

  • allocate brownfield sites
  • identify economic growth locations
  • support town centre uses
  • introduce a design code
  • identify design character areas and local heritage assets
  • designate a green infrastructure network and local green spaces
  • influence affordable housing mix
  • identify flood risk zones and safeguard the mains sewage network
  • introduce residential parking standards
  • introduce requirements for the Chiltern Beechwoods Special Area of Conservation (SAC) mitigation

If you have any questions about this consultation, please email us at neighbourhoodplanning@buckinghamshire.gov.uk or phone us on 01296 383 698.

You will need to provide your name and address when responding as planning law states that we cannot accept anonymous comments.

Please make sure we receive your comments by 11:59pm on Thursday 7 November 2024. We cannot consider any comments received after that deadline.

What happens next

Following consultation, we will collate the responses and submit them to an independent examiner.

The examiner will consider public comments and ensure the plan meets the basic conditions in the Localism Act and other relevant regulations.

If the plan passes independent examination, the next stage is a local referendum to see whether it has community support.

If the neighbourhood plan is supported, we will adopt it as part of local planning policy to assess planning applications in the neighbourhood area.
