Overview

We would like to hear your views on our proposals to introduce some Double Yellow Lines and extend the existing 30mph speed limit on Aylesbury Road, Great Missenden.

Part of the wider Buckinghamshire Greenway, the planned section from Dunsmore Lane, Wendover Dean to Aylesbury Road, Great Missenden is currently underway, and is the Council's vision for a continuous route for walking, wheeling and cycling spanning the length of Bucks.

In preparation for the section reaching Aylesbury Road, Buckinghamshire Highways have proposed some changes to the existing speed limit and parking restrictions to ensure the safety of the Greenway users and drivers along the road.

Background

Partnering with the Department for Transport, The Chiltern Society, Sustrans, and other partners, Buckinghamshire Council has planned a cross - county route from Silverstone in the north to Colne Valley to the south, as shown in the map below:

Our Proposals

We are proposing the following amendments on Aylesbury Road:

Affected Road (And Extents) What Are We Proposing?
Aylesbury Road, Great Missenden (From The Black Horse Public House to A413 junction) Extension of Double Yellow Lines on the eastern side of the carriageway from the existing lines in a north – westerly direction to the A413 junction for a length of 225.54 metres. 
Introduce new double yellow lines from the property edge of the Public House on the western side of the carriageway in a north – westerly direction to the A413 Junction for a length of 202.42 metres. This will also cover the entrance to Town End Farm.  
Aylesbury Road, Great Missenden (From Town End Farm to A413 junction)  Extension to the existing 30mph speed limit north from the entrance to Town End Farm in a north – westerly direction for a length of 80 metres, ending outside Havenfield Cottage.

What happens next

We will consider all the responses and develop proposals based on the comments received from residents and businesses.

If the results show that these proposals are widely supported, then we will begin the process of implementing these proposals, once a formal decision has been made by the Council.
