As a result, we will be proposing an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO) in Kingsbury to take place in Autumn 2024.

The proposals on the other four roads will be made permanent when the wider regeneration works commence.

Overview

Buckinghamshire Highways are proposing to introduce a number of restrictions on roads within Aylesbury Town Centre. Some of these roads will have restrictions prohibiting all motor vehicles, while others include proposed changes to parking, loading and taxi bays. We would like to hear your views on the proposals.

Following the success of the existing Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTROs) arrangements in place on these roads since COVID, Buckinghamshire Council is proposing to make these permanent in response to the positive feedback from residents and businesses in the town.

The Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) are a key first step to unlock a wider regeneration programme of works for Aylesbury, which aims to create a sustainable, vibrant, inclusive and safer town centre.

Our proposals

Our proposals include the following roads in Aylesbury Town Centre:

Name of Road Type of Restriction
Buckingham Street

  • Removal of the 8am-6.30pm entry restriction to Kingsbury and adjoining roads to allow access at all times and formalise use as a through route to maintain Order consistency.
Cambridge Street
  • New Prohibition of Motor Vehicles from No.22 to Buckingham St. replacing the previous one-way system.
  • Removal of Pay & Display waiting between No.37 south-westwards to a point approximately 2 metres southwest of boundary between Nos.29/27 Cambridge Street to facilitate a turning head at the entry point for the Prohibition of Motor Vehicles. Replace with a No Waiting At any time restriction.
George Street
  • New Prohibition of Motor Vehicles from rear of Queens Head to Temple St.
Kingsbury / Kingsbury Square
  • Replace Loading Only o/s No.4 with waiting by taxis; replace Loading only o/s No.32 with No waiting at any time/No loading 10am-4pm; replace pay & display/taxi waiting o/s Nos.40-44 with Loading only at all times; remove taxi waiting between Nos.46-54.
