Countywide Traffic Regulation Orders consultation

Thank you to everyone who took an interest in the recent county-wide consolidation of Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) in Buckinghamshire.

We received 5 responses to the consultation through Your Voice Bucks, email and letter. The content of these responses was fully taken into consideration before we made a final decision about the consolidated TROs.

The legal process is now complete, and this means that we have replaced dozens of old County Council and District Council legal orders with 4 ‘super orders’ that cover the whole county. The four orders cover:

off-street car parks
on-street parking controls
moving controls such as bus lanes
speed limits

Overview

In this statutory consultation we invite you to comment on 4 ‘consolidated’ traffic regulation orders (TROs). These replace numerous previous orders held under ex-district council names.

Background

As part of our work to become a single local authority, we have undertaken a full review of all traffic regulation orders (TROs) across Buckinghamshire. This is to make sure that they are all appropriate and have the correct road markings and signage.

The TRO review began in January 2020 and we have completed surveys of all our existing signs and restrictions. The new legal orders have now been prepared and reviewed by our legal department.

One benefit of the review is that all the orders are now digital, and map based. This means they are easier to view and amend in the future.

What happens next

We will consider all comments before we make the new Buckinghamshire Council traffic regulation orders.

The signs and lines will be very similar to what there is now, but if any minor changes are necessary, we will display them on the new TRO website.
