HS2 Tranche 3: Main Street & Edgcott Road, Grendon Underwood Traffic Calming

Overview

Overview

Buckinghamshire Highways is proposing to install speed cushions on The Broadway and Edgcott Road in Grendon Underwood.

This scheme is being taken forward as part of the HS2 Road Safety Fund (Tranche 3), which supports local improvements in areas affected by increased traffic linked to HS2 work.

We would like to hear your thoughts on the proposal.

Background

Grendon Underwood has experienced increased traffic in recent years, including vehicles associated with HS2 works. This has raised concerns about road safety within the village, particularly along The Broadway and Edgcott Road.

The road layout, including an S-bend with limited visibility, means drivers need to take extra care. At the same time, pedestrians often have to cross in this area to access the church and other local destinations.

These conditions and vehicle speeds, increase the risk for pedestrians and make it more difficult to cross safely. As a result, there is a need for measures that help slow traffic and create safer conditions for all road users.

Our Proposals

To address these issues, the Council is proposing a traffic calming measure to reduce vehicle speeds and improve safety for all road users. Refer table below for location and proposal.
