Overview

Buckinghamshire Highways are proposing to introduce a 30mph speed limit throughout The Grove development in Haddenham. This will be aimed at facilitating a safe passage, and to prevent any danger arising to all road users.

We are asking you for your views on this proposal.

Background

The Grove is a new housing development located in Haddenham, bordered and linked to Stanbridge Road to the east and Aston Road to the south, as shown in Figure 1 below:

Figure 1 - Overview map of The Grove, Haddenham (Bing Maps)

This development consists of over 300 two, three, four and five bedroom homes. There are a variety of nearby schooling opportunities and playgrounds, providing a pull to the area for young families, increasing the number of young children to the area. Some concerns have been raised regarding anti-social speeding in the area.

There is some street lighting present across the development, however the current arrangement of lighting columns does not automatically restrict the road to 30mph. Therefore, a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) is required to impose a 30mph speed limit upon these residential roads.

What we are Proposing

We are proposing to implement a 30mph speed limit order with the addition of repeater signs along the following roads:

Affected Roads Proposed Restriction
Alderson Way

Introduce a 30mph Speed Limit

Barn Owl Lane
Burch Mews
Cricketers Way
Hedgehog Way
Ivin Close
Lapwing Mews
Maslin Elms
Nicholson Road
Paine Close
Rookery Piece
Rose Meadow
Skylark Close
Thompson Mews
Willoughby Lane

The implementation of the TRO will to assist in preventing the likelihood of any danger arising to pedestrians or other road users. It will also facilitate a safe passage on the road for any class of traffic, including pedestrians. Furthermore, the TRO should preserve the amenities of the area through which the road runs.
