We want to hear your views on proposals to install kerbside Electric Vehicle (EV) charge points in Wendover, including conversion of adjacent parking spaces to 'EV charging only'.

Funded by the UK Government’s Local EV Infrastructure (LEVI) capital fund, Buckinghamshire Council and Wendover Parish Council, the Wendover electric vehicle (EV) charging project is supporting the installation of in-pavement cable channels (IPCCs) and on-street EV charging points.

The project commenced in February 2024 with the installation of trial IPCCs, which will be monitored and reviewed over the next two years. The trial IPCC locations were installed for households who expressed an interest in summer 2023.

This trial scheme is taking place alongside the provision of new public EV charging points on lampposts at various locations around Wendover. We are currently tendering for a supplier for these new charge points.

Proposals to install kerbside EV charge points and create dedicated parking spaces for 'EV charging only' across Wendover

We have undertaken analysis to identify the most appropriate locations to install kerbside EV charge points in Wendover. These must be powered via the electrical supply in an adjacent lamppost and so we are limited by this requirement.

To ensure that any new charge points are accessible for drivers wishing to charge their vehicles, we aim to convert the adjacent parking spaces into ‘EV charging only’ bays. This would ensure that those who are using the EV charge point are actively charging their EV, and so help avoid misuse in these locations. Converting the bays would be via the legal process to amend the Traffic Regulation Order, which includes a statutory consultation.

We want to hear your views on the locations that we have shortlisted. Within the shortlist, we have identified ‘Priority’ and ‘Reserve’ locations based on physical suitability, stated preferences from local stakeholders including Wendover Parish Council, and high usage potential. Whilst we are unable to progress all proposed locations, we will be shortlisting a minimum of 10 locations based on your feedback.

We want to hear from those who live, work or visit the town of Wendover.

We also want to hear from existing EV owners and anyone who may be interested in owning an EV in the future, to ensure we are providing charging infrastructure in the right locations across Wendover.

Location of the proposals

In consultation with Climate Action Wendover (CLAW), Wendover Parish Council (WPC) and local members we are proposing that the parking spaces closest to the lamppost EV charge point become EV only charging bays.
