Chesham Conservation Area appraisal consultation
4. Proposed addition to the conservation area: Waterside
Waterside is a road leading to and from the town centre, on the southeast side. Part of the road is flanked by brick or brick/flint walling. Further out, the road is flanked by red brick terraces, much altered and some with painted or rendered frontages.
Across the road from these is the former John Hayes & Son boot factory, now the Bagnall Centre. This is a three storey brick building, with contrasting colour brick detailing, and camber headed windows and openings. The building, together with the terrace opposite, has a distinctive industrial townscape character and is part of the special architectural or historic interest of the area.
