HS2 Tranche 3: Calvert Green Traffic Island

Overview

Overview

Buckinghamshire Highways is proposing to install a traffic island on Edgcott Road in Calvert Green, close to the junction with Cotswolds Way.

This scheme is being taken forward as part of the HS2 Road Safety Fund (Tranche 3) to help improve road safety in areas affected by increased traffic.

We would like to hear your thoughts on the proposal.

Background

Calvert Green has experienced higher traffic levels in recent years, including vehicles associated with HS2 works. This has raised concerns locally about vehicle speeds, particularly on the approach into the village.

Edgcott Road, near the junction with Cotswolds Way, has been identified as a key location where vehicles can enter the village at speed. The current road layout provides little indication to drivers that they are entering a residential area, which can affect driver behaviour and awareness.

As a result, there is a need for a measure that helps to slow traffic and provide a clearer visual cue for drivers as they approach the village

Our Proposals

To help address these issues, the Council is proposing to introduce traffic island, as mentioned in the below table:
