Stomp Road - Proposed raised table

Overview

We would like to hear your views on a highway improvement proposal on Stomp Road, Burnham, near Lent Rise School. Buckinghamshire Highways are proposing to introduce a raised table informal crossing on Stomp Road to improve accessibility and pedestrian safety.

Background & Our Aims

Buckinghamshire Highways are proposing to replace the existing speed cushions outside No. 109 and No. 111 Stomp Road with a full-width raised table incorporating an informal at-grade crossing facility. This will improve accessibility and safety for pedestrians, particularly children and parents travelling to and from Lent Rise School as well as the nearby playing area; and provide a more effective traffic-calming feature by encouraging reduced vehicle speeds and increasing driver awareness of pedestrian activity at this location.

The proposal - developed following discussions with local members, Burnham Parish Council and Lent Rise School - proposes the replacement of the existing pair of speed cushions outside No. 109 and No. 111 with a full-width raised table incorporating at-grade crossing facility.

Associated works include the conversion of the grass verge on the southern side of Stomp Road to footway over the length of the raised table; and the installation of tactile paving on both sides of the carriageway to facilitate safer and more accessible pedestrian movements. The design ensures that the existing vehicular access arrangements serving No. 109 and No. 111 are maintained and will not be adversely affected by the proposal.

What Happens Next

We will consider your responses and prepare a report which will be reviewed by the Council Leader, who will then make a decision about the proposal.
