Following a consultation about proposed separation of the Neighbourhood Area, a decision was made in October 2023, to split into three neighbourhood areas in line with the parish boundaries.
The Bierton, Broughton and Kingsbrook Neighbourhood Plan was then withdrawn.
Overview
In 2016, Bierton with Broughton Parish Council applied for a Neighbourhood Area covering the whole of the parish. This was approved in September 2016.
Since then, a realignment of the Parish boundaries has taken place. The neighbourhood area remains the same, but now covers the newly formed parish areas of Bierton, Broughton and Kingsbrook.
The Parish Council have now completed a period of local community engagement on their Plan and have submitted the final version to us.
The next stage of the process is for us, as the local authority, to carry out a public consultation on the submitted plan. This is an opportunity for local people to comment on it before it goes to independent examination.
The Bierton, Broughton and Kingsbrook Neighbourhood Plan includes policies that look to shape local development. In particular, the plan seeks to:
- create a settlement boundary
- designate Local Green Spaces
- protect the heritage and character of the various settlements in the parish
- protect key views and footpaths
- retain and enhance community facilities
- protect commercial and service-related uses in the village centres

What happens next

If the plan passes independent examination, the next stage is a local referendum to see whether the Plan has community support. If it is supported, we will adopt it as part of local planning policy to assess planning applications in the Neighbourhood Area to which the plan relates.
