Overview

We want to hear the views of local residents and organisations on the Neighbourhood Plan for Great Brickhill.

In August 2023, the Parish of Great Brickhill was designated a neighbourhood area by Buckinghamshire Council. This followed an application by Great Brickhill Parish Council.

Great Brickhill Parish Council has now completed  a period of local community engagement on the Great Brickhill Neighbourhood Plan and have submitted the final version to us.

The next stage of the process is for us, as the local authority, to carry out a public consultation on the submitted plan.

This is the final opportunity for local people to comment on the plan before it goes to independent examination.

The Great Brickhill Neighbourhood Plan includes policies to shape local development to:

  • Protect the countryside and environment
    • safeguard landscape character, important views, Local Green Spaces, biodiversity and wildlife corridors, dark night skies, green buffers betweeen settlements, and manage flood risk through sustainable drainage
  • Manage housing growth sensitively
    • set criteria to guide any potential development north of the A4146, support homes that meet local needs including smaller and adaptable housing, provide for an ageing population, and control the scale and design of extensions and replacement dwellings
  • Protect heritage and secure good design
    • conserve heritage assets and their settings, require high-quality design that reflects local character, promote sustainable and low-carbon construction, and support community-led renewable energy
  • Support village life, access and infrastructure
    • protect and encourage community facilities and local employment, ensure development contributes to infrastructure, and improve transport safety, walking and cycling accessibility
