HS2 Tranche 3: Station Road, Quainton Parking Restrictions and Traffic Calming

Overview

Buckinghamshire Highways is proposing to introduce Parking Restrictions, On - Street Parking Bays and a traffic calming measure (Speed Cushions) on Station Road, Quainton.

This scheme is being taken forward as part of the HS2 Road Safety Fund (Tranche 3) to help improve road safety in areas affected by increased traffic due to HS2 work.

We would like to hear your thoughts on the proposal.

Background

Quainton has experienced an increase in traffic in recent years due to changes associated with the HS2 project. This has resulted in higher traffic volumes on Station Road.

Station Road is an important route through the village. At present, there are no formal on-street parking bays; however, vehicles often park informally along the road. In some locations, this parking occurs close to junctions and access points, which can reduce visibility for drivers and make it more difficult for vehicles to pass safely.

This informal parking can also lead to obstruction and may affect access for larger vehicles and emergency services. Combined with anticipated traffic levels, this raises concerns about road safety and traffic flow along Station Road.

Overall, these conditions highlight the need for measures to manage parking more effectively, reduce vehicle speeds, and improve safety for all road users.

Proposal

To address these issues, the Council is proposing to introduce various measures on Station Road aimed at improving safety and managing traffic more effectively, as mentioned in the table below:
