Picasso Place Raised Table Cycle Crossing Consultation

Closed 6 Dec 2023

Opened 15 Nov 2023

Overview

Buckinghamshire Highways are proposing to introduce a raised table cycle crossing across Picasso Place, Aylesbury, where the existing Platinum Way Cycleway meets Picasso Place carriageway.

The purpose of this raised crossing point is to improve visibility and road safety for cycleway users by reducing the speed of approaching vehicles and highlighting the presence of cyclists and pedestrians alike. This uncontrolled crossing point will provide a safer facility for users of the cycleway to cross Picasso Place, additionally there is some improved connectivity for cycleway users going into and from the Picasso Place cul-de-sac section.

We want to hear the views of residents on our proposals. We will also contact statutory consultees.

What we are proposing / consulting on

The Picasso Place Raised Table Scheme proposes to introduce a raised table crossing across the road.

This would be located at least:

  • 35m North - East from Rubens Close Junction
  • 27m South - West from Constable Place

The raised table will be 75mm high and 3.5m width at point of crossing.
Ramps will be 1 metre in length on each approach.

We will notify Thames Valley Police of this intention.
