Castlefield Area Traffic Calming, High Wycombe

Closed 22 Dec 2023

Opened 1 Dec 2023

Overview

Buckinghamshire Highways are proposing to introduce traffic calming measures in the Castlefield Area of High Wycombe.

The aim of these measures is to limit and deter anti-social driving behaviours to mitigate potential hazards for vulnerable users and other persons from traffic using the roads at inappropiate speeds by improving safety for all road users.

We want to hear the views of residents on our proposals. We will also contact statutory consultees.

What we are proposing / consulting on

The Castlefield Area Traffic Calming Scheme proposes to introduce various traffic calming measures across multiple roads in the Castlefield Area. These roads are as follows:

  • Rutland Avenue (from the Chairborough Road / Albion Road junction to the Desborough Castle Settlement)
  • Booker Lane (from Rutland Avenue to Chiltern Avenue)
  • Middleway (Junction with Spearing Road)
  • Spearing Road (from The Middleway to Rutland Avenue)
  • Cross Road (between Spearing Road and Rutland Avenue)
  • Whitelands Road (between Chiltern Avenue and Whitelands Way)

Various traffic calming measures have been proposed on these roads. These can be in the form of speed cushions, raised tables and tabletop junctions. In addition, some junctions may be redesigned to have uncontrolled crossing points.

We will notify Thames Valley Police of this intention.
