HS2 Tranche 3: Steeple Claydon Traffic Calming

Overview

Buckinghamshire Highways is proposing to introduce traffic calming measures on Addison Road, Steeple Claydon.

This scheme is being taken forward as part of the HS2 Road Safety Fund (Tranche 3) to help improve road safety in areas affected by increased traffic.

We would like to hear your thoughts on the proposal.

Background

Steeple Claydon has experienced increased traffic in recent years, including vehicles linked to HS2 works, as well as additional traffic from new housing developments.

Addison Road is a main route through the village and is used by both local traffic and vehicles passing through. Its straight layout can encourage higher vehicle speeds, particularly at entry points and in some areas the carriageway is wide enough for vehicles to pass without slowing down.

There are also concerns at key locations, especially near junction, where drivers may not reduce their speed sufficiently. This can make it more difficult to navigate safely.

Overall, these conditions have raised concerns about road safety and highlight the need for measures to reduce vehicle speeds and improve safety for all road users.

Proposal

To address these issues, the Council is proposing to introduce traffic calming measures on Addison Road aimed at reducing vehicle speeds and improving safety for all road users, particularly at the village entrance and key junction locations, as mentioned in the table below:
